Augmented reality on mobile phone is not adding any real value to the whole experience.
Lets look at Layar. The AR (augmented reality) view looks like this:

Now you imagine you are using this, trying to find a house you might be interested in. It’s very difficult selecting a house because the motion sensors of the phone are quire sensitive causing the icons to move around like mad. Using the map view – which is also available is MUCH better. That’s the interface that fits the purpose of finding a house much better than looking through a camera.
But – now with the 3D capability AR actually gets interesting – check out this view:

This building is not yet built, but you can now PREVIEW it on it’s actual location, walk through it as if it were there – whilst walking through the grass of the construction site. THIS is a great application of AR.
So no. I see a really bright future for AR.

Nou misschien niet helemaal, maar in het gaat dit jaar snel gaan met dit locatie gebaseerd spel en sociaal platform.
We houden bij theFactor.e Foursquare al een tijd in de gaten. Het lijk nu ook echt in Nederland voet aan de grond te krijgen – en niet meer alleen in Amsterdam.

the San Diego zoo is accesible via Google Maps.
It’s clear that the technology Google uses does not quite scale (yet?) to smaller spaces. The user experience is quite different compared to normal Google Maps.

De consequentie hiervan: wow. Terminator meets Borne Identity en dan echt.
Overal zie ik tekenen van deze technologie. Er komt een trend op gang.
Augmentend of beter gezegd – annotated reality – dat wordt de technologie van deze decade en de gevolgen hiervan zullen enorm zijn. Groter dan de gevolgen van de mobiele telefoon.
Google zet een aantal stappen in de richting van Apple met de binnenkort te lanceren Nexus One. De Nexus One is een smartphone op basis van het Google Android besturingssysteem. Google heeft zelf bepaald hoe de hardware eruit komt te zien. De telefoon zelf wordt uiteindelijk gemaakt door HTC.

Qua specificaties ziet de Nexus eruit als een goede snelle smartphone. Een goede camera – 5 megapixel, een geheugenkaart van maximaal 32 GB en natuurlijk compas en GPS.
Wat bijzonder is aan de Google Nexus is dat Google die bijkbaar direct via hun website gaat verkopen, simlockvrij a $530. De telefoon zal waarschijnlijk ook aangeboden worden via operators als T-Mobile, maar dat je een telefoon direct van de fabrikant kan kopen, kun je bijzonder noemen. Read more…
Like a wrote in my last Emerce article – webusage is starting to concentrate around the big web properties – portals, email and search engines.
Australians also spent a longer amount of time on Email Services, Portal Frontpages and Search Engines.

we’re also seeing a greater concentration in visits to the top 10 websites
This means even more that publishers should eat or be eaten so to speak. Make your content edible (via an API) and/or be a platform aggregating information and services.

Door de opkomst van API’s zullen er uiteindelijk minder bezoekers komen op ‘kleine’ webdomeinen. Deze bezoekers zullen hun informatie en transactie behoefte kunnen bevredigen op de grote portalen.

Weinig functioneel, wel mooi en handig om mobiel de collectie te kunnen bekijken.
Zou het fijn vinden om verder te kunnen inzoomen op foto’s, de beschikbare maten te bekijken, openingstijden van Zara winkels.
